While researching the best wired earphones for gaming, I ran across a quotation on my screen that caught my attention.wired earphones quotation They were relatively low compared to some of the quotes I had seen, but at the same time their overall pricing was very reasonable.

What intrigued me about this quotation was it specifically stated the use of copper wire (pure) as the top priority in their product, they claimed the use of plastic would cause undue stress to the sound drivers. The bottom line was that while the wire was used in their product it was clear they had the utmost confidence in its durability.

A good quote is always a good thing, especially if they are quoting new companies and startups instead of established companies. But why did they claim it was "relatively low"? To me this says there are two major things going on with this quotation.

Firstly, the main challenge they have that would cause undue stress to the sound drivers is that of the use of pure copper wire. I'll admit this is a problem for a lot of people, it's usually because they are not aware of how to handle pure copper.

This is often related to the belief that all conductive materials such as copper are more prone to electrical interference than is actually the case. I will admit that some materials to conduct more easily than others, but in this case I would say that pure copper is actually the least conductive material on the market. So you see a quotation saying the use of pure copper in a wired earphones is low is almost certainly a good thing, mainly because most wires are not pure copper.

Secondly, they have expressed concern that the wires would bend under the rigorous action that comes with being used in a wired system. While I think this is a little exaggerated, it is true that some types of cables bend easier than others. This is why most batteries come in two different varieties: there are those that will not bend and will be very rigid, and there are those that are more pliable and will be able to be bent slightly to a certain degree.

But why are wires such as this needed in the first place? Well, I have to say that in the case of wireless systems such as gaming headsets, the wire is an absolute necessity to make sure that all of the data, from the game controller, is transmitted back and forth between the two devices without any interruptions. The wire would simply be too cumbersome and unnecessary to use when you can take advantage of Bluetooth.

So this wired earphones quotation left me with a couple of questions: Why are they using pure copper for the wire and why is it so cheap? Perhaps this will help inspire me to start my own DIY wireless gaming setup.
